Zoku Ice Cream Maker: Serving for One

The Zoku Ice Cream Maker solves one of life’s biggest problems – a freezer that calls your name.

Zoku Ice Cream Maker

The truth is many of us start a pint of ice cream and think we can stop. Then, we walk by the kitchen (which is an open kitchen so easy to walk by) and the freezer literally screams, “Hey! There is more ice cream in here!”

I know that I sound a bit insane but I hear it.

The Zoku Ice Cream Maker is the perfect solution to your frozen treat problem. You can make individual portions of ice cream, custard, frozen yogurt, gelato, sorbet, or sherbet in as little as 10 minutes.

This is almost as fast as my strawberry frozen yogurt and my peanut butter and banana ice cream.

You make ice cream mixture (easy), refrigerate it, and freeze the Zoku bowl. When you want to make ice cream, you put some in the bowl and stir.

Here is what five minutes with four ounces of mixture looks like when I speed it up to 15 seconds.

I quit because it was a soft serve consistency and my kids were trying to eat it. You can keep going and make a hard ice cream. This is so simple – no power required except for your arm.

The best part is that you can make a wee bit for a treat and then you can’t use the bowl again until tomorrow. You mix, savor, and the ice cream is out of this world.

A friend taught me that ice cream should be eaten like a baked good – as soon as possible after it is out of the oven (or out of the ice cream maker). It is absolutely heavenly and much better than a prepackaged pint from the grocery store.

I kept the ice cream mix in my refrigerator for about a week.

To wash the Zoku bowl, I simply rinsed it with warm, soapy water in the sink, dried it, and put it back in the freezer.

Chocolate ice cream is even better with fair trade cocoa. It's more expensive, but do we really need to enlist child slaves to harvest our treats? If you go to Relay Foods on the "order ingredients" button above order Divine Cocoa. You can get Divine, Equal Exchange, and Frontier cocoa other places as well. And it really does taste better!

Can this be done with dairy free products ya think? Will it come out the same??

I second Cathy's question. As a vegan, I would love this if I could make it with non-dairy milk and no cream.

@Cathy and @Desiree - anything you can make in an ice cream maker - you can make in this. I am sure that vegan ice cream will work. Thanks for your excellent question!

I can proudly say that I can keep a pint of ice cream in my fridge for like 9 months or more. When I want some I literally have 2 maybe 3 teaspoons and I put it back. I rarely touch it. It ends up getting freezer burned. Now I get the little tiny Hagenn Daz ice cream cups or I'll get the small versions of ice cream snickers I love them it comes with 12 so it can literally last almost a year. My friend has one of these and I though t it was so cool. It's really good if you are trying to focus on portion control, but if you have a sweet tooth like my friend it doesn't help all that much because she then uses logic on why she can have some almost every day. Lol, Oh well. Her Achilles heel is sweets and bread mine is cheese and ribeye.

I think you can make it with nondairy substitutes because my friend can make sorbet in hers. It comes out fine.

Thanks for reviewing this item! Because of my asthma I can't have ice cream like I did as a kid. But I sure can some frozen iced watermelon on hot days, like the one upcoming this weekend! And to have it ready with a lot less work than a regular ice cream maker is a super plus!

I could swear when this appeared there was a comment as to how to make frozen yogurt and someone gave their ingredients & measurements yogurt sugar and kefir but I can't find it now

If you make a lot of icecream, it will indeed take longer. If you make a small amount, it takes less time.

Amazing I got it as a birthday present from my Aunty and I love it. Great for a hot summer day. I totally recommend it

Works really well but took a long time. even after 1 year in the freezer
