Buy A Beautiful Gift & Empower Women

December 4, 2014   11 Comments

I happen to love candles because my house looks best in candlelight (you can’t see the dirt).

Prosperity Candle

I LOVE these Coco Shine Candles from Prosperity Candle because after burning them, you can repurpose the real coconut shell into a snack bowl to fill with pistachios, almonds, or pretzels.

A friend of mine works for Prosperity Candle and clued me into these treasures. I thought I would share them with all of you as you continue your hunt for unique gifts.

These candles are not only gorgeous but every candle purchased helps provide a living wage for women who have recently resettled from refugee camps and are working to build a brighter future for themselves and their families in the United States.

Here is what the bowl looks like after you finish using the candle:

Isn’t that lovely? You can learn how to clean your candle on their website here: Repurpose Your Candle.

The candles are made with all natural cotton wicks and the highest grade of wax for clean burning. These are some classy candles.

The Coco Shine candle costs $45 and is available in five fragrances (Amber & Orchid, Lavender & Citron, Sea Grass & Salt Spray, Vanilla Bean & Peppercorn, Pacific Redwood & Patchouli, and Unscented) and five colors.

Pretty, but too pricey for me.

It's definitely a thoughtful gift, but I agree it's not in my budget either.

About how long do they burn for?

Does Not fit into my budget. What is happening to this site? I thought it was suppose to be about healthy eating and penny pinching meals.

Thank you for sharing such a lovely idea! It's wonderful to be aware of the ways we can give back during this holiday season. Thank you!

Lovely candles! I love that they can be repurposed & are made by refugee women. And if the Prosperity part works then it's well worth the price. Thanks for sharing!

This would make the right gift for a special person who would appreciate the background of the women making the candles. While a bit steep in price, I would consider purchasing one for a friend, and remember that my contribution (like other contributions to worthy causes: American Cancer Society, local food bank, etc) goes beyond just being a gift for a friend.

This is a wonderful idea for a holiday gift. If you go to the website it provides all the information you need regarding burn time. They also have other candles you can order from $28. I don't find the cost too different than any other candles I purchase. And it is good to know that my purchase is helping other women. I plan to purchase a Forever candle.

Thank you for the website!

I do like to buy things from the fair trade market. If shopping at Hallmark or some such store you would pay that price for a similar product. But I agree there are sooo many organizations that need our help.

This is a great way to raise money for people in need. If you just want candles for yourself by making or using them, I recommend beeswax candles as they repel dirt and burn longer. Completely worth it.

Light and love. Giving and sharing. Perfect for Christmas. Thank you, Lisa, for sharing.
