A Star Is Born: Snack Girl!
September 14, 2010 5 Comments
My advertiser, Food Buzz is holding a contest called "Project Food Blog". Snack Girl feels she is up to the challenge.
What do I have to do? Well, every week I remain in the competition I have a challenge to complete. This week's challenge is to explain what defines me as a food blogger and why I should be the NEXT food blog star.
Here we go!
Snack Girl is about healthy snacking. The concept came to me because I believe most of us have stopped eating real meals. We are moving so quickly and working so hard it is difficult to find the time to cook something delicious and sit down.
Also, we have an obesity EPIDEMIC. My goal when I started Snack Girl last year was to help people make better choices. I see Snack Girl as a way for me to contribute to ending this disease.
Every week day morning I get up and write this blog. I create snack recipes, review packaged snacks, and try to make food marketing clear to my readers.
Many people have written me about how I have helped them make better choices and I am incredibly proud of the impact I have had.
I want Snack Girl to grow and be a resource to dieters, parents, schools, etc. Anyone who needs a healthy snack idea can find it here!
The next top food blog star shouldn't be another 101 Cookbooks (I absolutely love this site!). It should be someone who deals with how people eat NOW. Food porn is great, but it ain't what we need to get us through the crisis.
Here is an example of the type of snacks I write about. Simple, delicious, fresh, and healthy:
Carrot, Cream Cheese, and Raisin Bites Recipe
(serves 2)
1 whole wheat tortilla
1 tablespoon cream cheese
1/2 carrot, grated
10 raisins
Spread cream cheese on tortilla. Add grated carrots and raisins and roll up. Slice into 10 pieces and enjoy!
