Healthier Holiday Party Snacks

December 11, 2013   3 Comments

Snack Girl realizes the point of holiday parties is to indulge. My issue is the amount of indulgence.

Healthy Holiday Snacks

Today at the supermarket, I found myself picking up holiday cookies (and putting them down), eggnog, candy canes, Hershey’s kisses, and assorted other stuff that I won’t mention here. Oh wait, a Poinsettia!

I didn’t put down the eggnog, candy canes, or Hershey’s kisses. I intend to share them.

Really.

Let’s say that you intend to stay on the healthy train during the holidays. How do you do it? Here are some ideas to infuse a bit of nutrients into the festivities, but are fun and delicious.

Thank you for this round-up! I can always use a healthier snack at the holiday time!

For Thanksgiving I used Hodgson Mill Gingerbread mix per the package and the batter seemed rather stiff therefore I wasn't too surprised that the end product was dry. [my birds loved it tho! :) ] I also preferred more ginger flavor. I gave a HM Gingerbread mix to my daughter for her Christmas party last Friday with your 4- ingr.pumpkin gingerbread recipe which she made in cupcake form. She used a total of 1 c of milk [org.soy] and added 1tsp ground ginger. They came out moist and delicious! The pumpkin really adds a lot of flavor and moisture. Next time we both think adding a Tablespoon of pumpkin spice would make them even better but then again we like our gingerbread very spicy! Hope this helps!

I took cut-up apples microwaved with a bit of apple juice and plenty of cinnamon to my book group gathering last week. Along with a salad. My rule is to take food items that I know I will enjoy and feel ok about eating.
