Are you sick and tired of looking at food labels? Do you find yourself squinting a lot?

DIY Packaged Foods

Join the club. Since my job is consumed with interpreting labels, my eyes are getting tired.

One way to avoid having to read labels is to start making some of the packaged “convenience foods” yourself. Over the last 4 years, I have attempted a bunch of different foods and these are some of the most successful.

Will it take you more time than opening a package? Yes. But, these recipes give you something that tastes much better than the packaged counterpart.

The one below that will take some dedication is the healthy bread. The book that I suggest gives you a system for making bread that should make it less time consuming, but it is a bit of a lifestyle change. If you can’t find any healthy bread near you, you should give it a try.

Great post! I have been trying to eat clean and more natural. Sometimes it's just convenient to grab a bag of something. But your right, the label reading is out of control, but it needs to be done if your cooking!

I am so excited to make my own ricotta today! I'd love to make my own chewy granola bars for my children. Got a recipe, Snack Girl?

I already do the bread, yogurt, popcorn, oatmeal, and cereal bars (occasionally). The last 3 are thanks to you! <3 Thanks, Lisa!

You forgot tortillas! I never buy them from the store since finding your recipe. I am planning on making my own croutons since I've started eating more salad. I guess I should also make my own salad dressing to go with it too.

This is great. I love the different ideas and links. I would like to incorporate these ideas into my healthy living program because a lot of my clients are looking for alternatives to packaged foods especially those who have high blood pressure.

Look forward to hearing back from you. I am looking to establish a network of people so we could help one another, and you seem to have a great handle on this matter.

Thank you,
