An Amazing Apple Pie Makeover In Two Minutes

June 17, 2010   19 Comments

Is it possible to cut the calories of apple pie in half and have it still taste good? Well, when you are working with food as great as Apples anything is possible.

Apple Pie Makeover

The photo of my "Apple Pie Makeover" doesn't reveal how good this recipe tastes. Also, the speed of this recipe can make it an every day food for kids and adults.

All I used was an apple, a Graham Cracker, lemon, cinnamon, and a microwave to make this snack. If it is eaten when it is still warm, it really tastes like apple pie.

Of course, I am not talking about the 240 calorie per slice, butter in the crust, grandmother "made with love" pie. That is an incredible concoction and one that I would not try to replace with a microwaved snack. If it was served to me, I would just enjoy it!

But, the pie that you get at fast food places or supermarkets? Yes, you need to make those over with this snack. They are not heavenly - they are mostly gummy and filled with preservatives and flavoring agents that you don't need.

Your kids will love making this as an after school snack. The best part is crumbling the graham cracker into the bowl.

Add other things to this recipe like raisins or almond slices to make it more interesting. Cardamom and nutmeg would make great additions, too. Play with it and let me know how it goes.

Thank you so much for that quick treat. My mother is in town this week so I am trying to make new and exciting things...this one will be great!

Ooooh!! What an awesome recipe! Thanks for sharing! I have an apple that is dying in my fruit bowl. I'll have to give this recipe a try! :D

That actually sounds pretty good! I get cravings for sweet and fruity things and I really think that would hit the spot, Thanks!

Just made it for myself and the kids. We tripled it since we're a family of 6.

Great hit with 3 of the 4 kids! I think next time I won't triple the lemon, it was a bit strong. But otherwise a great morning snack out in the yard.

Fantastic! I'll have to try this on my husband.

I'll have to try this one!

How many points is this per serving? It looks delicious and I would like to make it, but I need to know how many points. Thanks.

what would be the points plus value for this dish with and withou raisins?

I use apple pie spice to increase the "apple pie" taste.

For the weight watcher crowd, just put in your recipe builder and it will give you the # of pts

I intend to try this tonight

LOOKS GOOD BUT YOU SAY HONEY/SYRUP YETY I DONT SEE IT IN THE RECIPE WHATS UP

I tried this and used melba toast because I didn't have graham crackers. It was not that great. It tasted like mushy apples :) so I guess you need the graham cracker :)

This was great, fast and delicious. I just used the apple and graham cracker though. Then I added chocolate chips. Mmmmm

THIS DID NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT ALMONDS.......STILL;;;;;;;;;;;; ITS TOPPED WITH THEM......

GIVE IT TO US STRAIGHT.PLEASE.
